As the author of Dilbert says, “You’ve never seen condescension until you’ve met a Unix User.”, and not only is Paul Graham a Unix user (FreeBSD), he is a Lisper, which means you should get a double-dose. The fact of course is that, like many Unix and Lisp users, they actually have something to be arrogant about technology-wise, and Paul Graham has managed to write books that are very interesting on the subject of programming, “Hackers and Painters”, and “ANSI Common Lisp”. So it shouldn’t be surprising to Jeff Atwood that Paul Graham has a bit of “narcissism”, he comes by it honestly.
